In October 2011 Bex Harper and Sarah Kay decided to start an outreach project that allows NPN to help the wider community. The first project took place in November and December 2011 and was a Yule gift box appeal for Nottingham women’s shelters. Initially we were aiming to donate boxes to two refuges but the response was overwhelming so we selected three shelters: WAIS Zola refuge, NCHA Umuada refuge and Nott’s Women’s Aid refuge. In total, with donations from many people across the Nottingham Pagan Network we managed to donate gift boxes/packages for every woman and child in the three shelters, as well as also donating three bags of women’s clothing, a bag of women’s shoes and some children’s toys to the shelters for future residents. We’d like to give a massive thank you to all those people who donated to the project and supported this cause.
